Finding Bag End

16 Dec

Not only did The Book Club find Bag End, but we also met Gandalf who had just made his very own inscription on the door of Mr Bilbo Baggins.

Thank you so much for a great adventure!20121216_202846

Please notice how kind old Gandalf shared some of his magic by lending his staff’s light to our arms!

The Hobbit – a most enjoyable cinematic experience

16 Dec

The Book Club has now seen the eagerly expected film The Hobbit – An Unexpected Journey.

For those of us who have read the book it was an amazing experience to see this stunning adventure come to life. The riddles in the dark between Gollum and Bilbo were simply magic!

For those of us in the book club who have not read the book, this film was more than inspiration for taking up this classic fantasy story as soon as possible. It is more than well that the Christmas break is just around the corner.20121216_202531

We were all satisfied in our row after the film was over, although we were also a bit sad since it actually was the end of it. However, we will be back for the next part in December 2013!

The Hobbit…so soon!

26 Nov

We are eagerly expecting the world premiere of Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” in cinemas 12 December. The Book Club will of course make sure to watch this epic film together and afterwards discuss and analyse it.

“He was just about to step out on to the floor when he caught a sudden thin and piercing ray of red from under the drooping lid of Smaug’s left eye” – The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

The Book Club’s Visit to the Performance of A Christmas Carol by Dickens

17 Jan

The English Book Club attended a Friday evening performance of Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol. We more than enjoyed this fantastic musical and magical show.

We say an extra ‘thank you’ to Spånga gymnasium’s wonderful librarian Per who sponsored this visit.
